Jonathan Mishkin
Managing Director
Jonathan is a managing director at TM Capital, one of Oaklins’ US member firms. He leads the firm’s team focused on the building products, paper, packaging and printing sectors. Recent projects include sale mandates for printing equipment maker Contiweb, a portfolio company of American Industrial Papers; the sale of Resolute Forest Products’ Catawba, SC pulp and paper mill to New Indy Containerboard; the sale of logging equipment distributor Tidewater; and the sale of building products distributor Snavely Forest Products to Weekes Forest Products.
Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan was the founder and managing partner of Sanabe & Associates, LLC. At Sanabe he represented a variety of American, Canadian and European clients, including Ainsworth Lumber, Catalyst Paper, Domtar, EACOM Timber, Finch, Pruyn, Huttig Building Products, Interfor, Lenzing, Menasha Packaging, NewPage, Resolute Forest Products, Smurfit-Stone Container (ad-hoc group of preferred equity holders), Wellspring Capital Management/Neucel Specialty Cellulose and WestRock. Before founding Sanabe in 2002, Jonathan was the North American group head for paper, packaging and forest products for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) from 1994–2000, and retained this position after DLJ was acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) in 2000. While at DLJ and CSFB, he initiated and managed over 20 M&A, high yield and merchant banking transactions. These included the sales of St. Laurent Paperboard, Repap Enterprises and Unisource Worldwide; divestitures for Bowater, Smurfit-Stone Container and Sappi Ltd.; major acquisitions for St. Laurent Paperboard and National Envelope; high yield financings for Stone Container, Gaylord Container and Repap Enterprises; and merchant banking investments for DLJ Merchant Banking Partners in American Tissue and S.D. Warren.
