Oaklins' team in Finland advises Laeringsverkstedet on the acquisition of Pilke päiväkodit from Korona Invest and minority shareholders
Pilke päiväkodit is one of the leading private early childhood education and development services providers in Finland. It works with over 10,000 children and employs more than 2,000 early childhood education professionals. In addition to managing 150+ daycare units across the country, Pilke works closely with local public and private stakeholders in offering after-school clubs and childcare services at home.
Since 2013 under the ownership of Korona Invest, Pilke evolved from 19 daycare units chain into the leading private daycare units operator in Finland and has increased its sales from EUR 1.5 million to almost EUR 100 million. Most importantly, Pilke has become a well-established brand, reflecting its core values of trust, safety, positivity and innovation. Same values, which lie at the heart Laeringsverkstedet operations.
Laeringsverkstedet is the family-owned early childhood education and development services provider. It was established by educators and became the largest private player in Norway with operations also in Sweden, Germany, Latvia and Dubai. The Group manages 230+ daycare units in Norway, which serve approximately 19,000 children. In addition, Laeringsverkstedet works with 4,000 children in its daycare units and schools in Sweden and Germany. Laeringsverkstedet employs approximately 6,000 early childhood education professionals.

Pilke and Laeringsverkstedet are joining forces in creating the largest private daycare group in the Nordics. Following this acquisition, Laeringsverkstedet plans to continue strengthening its positions in its existing markets as well as expanding its operations outside the Nordic region.
