James Freedman

Managing Partner

Jim is the chairman, managing director and founding principal of Intrepid Investment Bankers, one of Oaklins’ US member firms. He has more than 35 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience, and is an expert in the financial aspects of corporate strategy. Jim has advised numerous middle-market companies in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate valuation and strategic decisions. In addition, he has acted as the principal financial advisor in hundreds of capital raisings and merger and acquisition transactions, ranging in value from US$20 million to more than US$1 billion. He has particular expertise in business services, consumer products & services, technology & digital media, healthcare and industrials.

Jim founded Barrington Associates in 1982, the predecessor firm to Intrepid, which was subsequently sold to Wells Fargo Securities in 2006. Prior to Barrington, he was vice president at Foothill Group Inc., where he was in charge of corporate development as well as the commercial lending division for the California region. He has a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MBA in Finance from the University of California in Los Angeles. He is also a FINRA-registered general securities principal.
