Selecta has acquired Whetman Plants

Selecta one (Selecta) has acquired Whetman Plants International Ltd (Whetman). With this acquisition Selecta reinforces its global number one position in the dianthus market. The Whetman range, with a particular strength in perennial dianthus, complements their successful portfolio.

Founded in 2003, Whetman Plants is specialized in the breeding, cultivation and sale of plants, specifically perennial dianthus.

Selecta is a world leader in breeding, producing and marketing vegetatively propagated ornamental plants and flowers. Breeding activities include bedding and balcony plants, poinsettias, perennials and cut flowers. With 15 production sites and distribution companies in Europe, Africa, Asia and America, the corporate group serves all relevant markets worldwide.

Selecta will gradually integrate Whetman into the Selecta Group, building on existing relationships and continuing to deliver quality plants to the Whetman customer base. The aim is to have a seamless transition into the supply chain.

Oaklins’ team in the Netherlands brought Whetman and Selecta in contact with each other regarding the business combination.
